Nestled between lush coffee plantations and shadowing Arusha’s National Park lies the majestic peaks of Tanzania’s most scenic volcanoes, Mount Meru. Often shadowed by its more commercially famous cousin, Mount Kilimanjaro, Mount Meru none the less is a worthy and challenging opponent for any high altitude mountaineer wishing to explore a rugged location in Africa that few have ventured to. With its volcanic foothills alive with wildlife and unique bird species, chances of spotting some of Tanzania reputable primal residents is excellent. Trek through varied ecological zones from open grassland, deep forests, passed moorland to alpine semi-desert before reaching the staggering sharp summit of Socialist Peak (4566 m) to experience a sunrise of epic proportions across the savannahs and even admire the Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance on clear days.  Celebrate your summit success during a last night dinner at Khans side street BBQ with your fellow climber.A steep technical climb with dramatic terrain makes for a rewarding experience of a life time.
